Tokens are used to unlock new puzzles from the Map View screen.
On this screen you will see a grid of tiles containing purple circles. Each of these tiles represents a puzzle in the current chapter. The numbers in the purple circles indicate the cost in tokens to unlock that puzzle.
When you unlock a puzzle, it will remain unlocked until you have completed it. Once you have completed a puzzle, it will appear on the map view as a letter. Selecting it will allow you to view picture and the solution, or Replay the puzzle again.
The number of tokens you have available is listed in the status bar at the bottom of the screen.
